Beef and Stout Sishebo

Ingredients

  • 1 kg brisket, cubed
  • 1 Tbsp. (15ml) cooking oil
  • 1 large onion - sliced
  • 1 tsp (5ml) Robertsons Coarsely Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp (5ml) Robertsons Mixed herbs
  • 1 tsp (5ml) sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. (30ml) vinegar
  • 340ml Stout or beer
  • 2 cups (500ml) water
  • 1 Knorr Beef Stock Cube
  • 2 cups (500ml) McCain’s Stew Mix
  • 1 packet Knorr Rich Oxtail Soup Powder

Instructions

  • Brown the meat in heated oil, add the onion and fry for a few minutes.
  • Add the pepper, mixed herbs and sugar.
  • Heat vinegar, beer and water. Add the stock cube and pour over the meat.
  • Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 to 2 hours.
  • Add the stew mix and simmer until vegetables and meat are tender.
  • Lastly, stir in the Knorr Oxtail Soup to thicken the sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Serve with pap or mash.
