Ginger Beer Chicken Sishebo

Ingredients

  • 1.5 - 2 kg chicken pieces
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) oil
  • 2 onions, cut into rings
  • 2 cups (500ml) ginger beer
  • 2 cups (500 ml) water
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 ml) Robertsons Garlic Flakes
  • 1 packet Knorr Brown Onion Soup Powder
  • 2 Tbsp. (30ml) tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. (30ml) chutney
  • 2 cups (500 ml) McCain’s Country Crop frozen vegetables

Instructions

  • Brown the chicken pieces in oil, add the onion and fry until the onion is soft.
  • Combine the ginger beer, water, Robertsons Garlic Flakes, Knorr Brown Onion Soup Powder, tomato sauce and chutney.
  • Pour over the chicken. Cover with a lid and simmer gently for about 30 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.
  • Remove the lid. Add frozen vegetables and heat through for another ten minutes to allow the sauce to thicken.
  • Serve with mashed potato, pap or rice.
