Polony and Baked Beans Vetkoek

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (500 ml) flour
  • 4 tsp (20 ml) baking powder
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) Knorr Aromat
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) Robertsons Mixed Herbs
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup (250 ml) Maas
  • 250 g polony
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) Rama Margarine
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 ml) Rajah Mild & Spicy Curry Powder
  • 1 x 410 g Tin Baked Beans
  • Oil to fry

Instructions

  • Sift the flour, baking powder, Knorr Aromat and Robertsons Mixed Herbs together in a bowl.
  • Beat oil, egg and Maas in a small bowl. Fold into the dry mixture.
  • With floured hands, roll the dough into 12 balls. Deep fry in hot oil. Turn when golden brown and cook on the other side.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Chop the polony into cubes. In a saucepan melt the margarine and fry the onion until soft. Add the Rajah Mild & Spicy Curry Powder and polony and fry for a minute. Add the baked beans. Heat through and serve in the hot vetkoek.
