Creamy Mushroom Flavoured Samp

  • 2 cups (600 g) samp, washed and soaked overnight
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 ml) Robertsons Garlic Salt
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) Knorr Cream of Mushroom Soup


  • Drain the samp after soaking overnight and place in a large pot covered with clean water. Add the Robertsons Garlic Salt and simmer slowly until nearly soft.
  • Check on it every 30 minutes to see if it needs more water and stir frequently to stop it from catching on the bottom of the pot.
  • Allow to simmer slowly until the water has evaporated, stirring occasionally.
  • The samp and beans should have a nice creamy, soft texture.
  • Mix the Knorr Cream of Mushroom Soup with four tablespoons of water to make a smooth paste then add it to the samp and allow to cook for a further five minutes.
  • Serve with any meat or vegetable dish.
